No Good Racing formed in 1985 as one of the original teams of the Kanjozoku — a Honda Civic street racing subculture built around the "Kanjo," the elevated loop section of the Hanshin Expressway that circles central Osaka. Where Tokyo's wangan racers chased top speed on long straights, the Kanjo's tight, narrow corners rewarded light, agile cars over raw power — which is exactly why the Civic (EF9, EG6, EK4 and EK9 in particular) became the car of choice, tuned for handling with naturally aspirated B-series engines rather than big horsepower. Teams like No Good Racing built a reputation for their loud paint schemes, anonymous group identity, and, as the "Bye Bye Police" tagline suggests, a talent for outrunning the cops on their home turf.
